Sarah Anane
Co-President
Sarah is a junior from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. She is a member of Morse College and is pursuing a degree in Economics with certificates in Global Health Studies and Data Science. As Co-President this year, she is excited to work with the New Haven community to get Yale students out of the ‘Yale bubble’ and involved in local initiatives!
Fun Fact: Sarah used to be a competitive dancer and now she teaches at her old studio!
Marah Rigaud
Co-President
Marah is a junior in Silliman College from Long Island, New York, majoring in Political Science and Black Studies. Her academic focus is on law and public service. This year, Marah is excited to serve as Co-President of BSAY, where she looks forward to continuing her commitment to advocacy and community building.
Fun Fact: Marah played viola for 10 years!
Justin Wright
Co-Vice President
Justin is a sophomore from Houston, Texas. He is a member of Pierson College and is pursuing a degree in Political Science and Black Studies. As Vice-President this year, Justin is excited to help plan events and strengthen the Black community on campus.
Fun Fact: Justin has sung in choir his whole life and has toured six countries!
Zara Chinwuba
Co-Vice President
Zara is a sophomore ‘29 from Houston, TX. She is a member of Branford College and is pursuing a degree in Ethics, Politics, and Economics. As Vice President this year, Zara is excited to strengthen BSAY’s student-alumni network and expand access to professional opportunities.
Fun Fact: Zara visited seven different countries this summer!
Monica Ajith
Co-Treasurer
Monica Ajith is a sophomore from Sioux Falls, SD. They are a member of Branford College and are pursuing a degree in Political Science and African American Studies with a certificate in Human Rights. As Co-Treasurer this year, Monica is excited to expand access to BSAY events, ensuring every dollar goes toward building community and supporting Black student life on campus.
Fun Fact: Monica’s favorite show is Criminal Minds!
Bernice Gitiche
Co-Treasurer
Bernice is a junior from San Antonio, TX. She is a member of Morse College and is pursuing a degree in Ethics, Politics, and Economics with certificates in Spanish and Black Studies. As Treasurer this year, Bernice is excited to contribute to the influence BSAY has on the Yale Black community and work with such an amazing team.
Fun Fact: Bernice has played the piano for 12 years!
Ida Nije
Co-Community Action Chair
Ida is a sophomore from the southside of Atlanta, Georgia. She is a member of Ezra Stiles College and is pursuing a degree in Black Studies and Sociology. As Community Action Co-Chair, Ida is eager to bridge the growing divide between Black Yale and the New Haven community through social justice initiatives.
Fun Fact: Shaq facetimed Ida on her birthday one year!

Co-Publicist & Membership Coordinator
Kaileah is a sophomore from Queens, NY. She is a member of Pierson College and are pursuing a degree in Psychology and American Studies with a certificate in Spanish. As Publicity and Membership Coordinator this year, Kaileah is excited to help foster connections among our members and create a space of belonging and community for Black students on campus.
Fun Fact: Kaileah’s favorite movie is Dune.
Thomas Mulugeta
Co-Publicist & Membership Coordinator
Thomas is a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nevada. He is a member of Branford College and is pursuing a degree in English, concentrating in Creative Writing. As membership coordinator this year, he is excited to offer a safe, fun, and engaging space for students with the organization.
Fun Fact: Thomas met Barack Obama in the Yale Law Library bathroom.
